Introducing the "Diet Process"
When I trained to be a nurse, I was taught about the nursing process: Assess, Plan, Implement, Evaluate, Re-assess. Since then I’ve noticed that this model applies to many other fields including teaching and project management. So why not apply it to losing weight? When using the nursing process, it was applied in a number of different situations against different nursing models to provide the patient with an individual care plan. Having tried so many diets, what I wanted was a diet that would work for me and that would help me keep the weight off for good. That's the aim of this website and blog.
What is "The Diet Process"
How does it work?
Very simply it is a 5-part process consisting of:
Think of it as a journey. Assessment is looking at where you are and where you want to go. There are different routes you can take to reach your destination, so you need to plan out the route. Once you've started the journey, you may get lost or side tracked. In which case, you evaluate where you are, how you got to that point, what worked well (or didn't) and what is the best route to your destination.
